Members of staff and friends of the firm took part in the London to Brighton bike ride on 19 June to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
The weather was perfect (dry but not too warm) as the intrepid Team Fairweathers set off from Clapham Common at 8.00 am on Sunday morning.
‘Fit Barrie’ the youngest and trimmest member was first across the line at Brighton sea front in a time of around 4 hours.
Partner and Head of Medical Negligence at the firm, Darren Tamplin, was home second in a highly respectable (particularly in light of the lack of training this year) 4 hours 20 minutes. There was a steady flow of finishers up to senior team member, Una Turner (who looked as fresh at the finish as she did at the start), and then something of a wait for Nick Fairweather, Chief Executive, to puff and pant his way over the line (perhaps next year he will think twice about covering the course on a girl’s bike).
Aside from all surviving the ordeal, the most important thing was the fund raising. This year surpassed previous levels with a grand Team total of £3,204.12 going to the highly worthy British Heart Foundation.
The call to arms to sign up for next year’s run is already in Darren’s diary for early 2012.
