14th March 2022 – Archie Batten was born late in the evening at the QEQM Hospital Margate on Sunday 1 st September 2019 and died shortly afterward at just 27 minutes of age. He was the first child of parents Rachel Higgs and Andrew Batten.The Inquest into his death begins today at the Archbishop’s Palace Maidstone before Assistant Coroner Sonia Hayes.
The Coroner has previously ruled that Article 2 is engaged in the case and she will hear the case without a jury with the family, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and 4 midwives appearing before her as Interested Parties.
