In Brief

I work part time as Office Manager here at Fairweathers. My role encompasses IT Manager, Data Protection Manager and Health & Safety Manager, and I am a Member of the Admin Team.

In the Past

I formally joined Fairweathers in 2013 as a PA, having previously temped for the firm over a number of years. I then progressed to IT Manager and assisted the previous Office Manager, taking over the full role after she left the firm in 2015.

My background is Legal PA and IT – I’ve worked in law firms since the age of 17. I spent several years working in London for Nabarro Nathanson until I left to start a family in 1998.

I trained as a hairdresser in 2006, attending an evening class to fit in around family commitments and qualified in 2008. Since qualifying, I have run my own self employed hairdressing business part-time and I also spent 2 years working in a salon. It’s quite a departure from the structured legal office life, but certainly gives me great variety to my working week and fills my time when I am not in the office!

At Work

My role is extremely varied as Office Manager, dealing with anything from the Induction process for new staff to liaising with our various suppliers; I chair Team and Staff meetings; contribute to and help compile the Annual Business Plan and maintain our Firm’s Office Manual and have a lead role in our annual compliance audit by Lexcel to maintain our accreditation with them.

I am responsible for the Firm’s IT, being the ‘techie’ in the office – this will involve anything from ‘helpdesk’ type support for my colleagues to liaison with our providers for the procurement of services & equipment, or to escalate technical issues. I find the ‘switch off/switch on again’ approach works well!

As Health & Safety Manager, I ensure that both legislative compliance and the Firm’s policy is met. I conduct annual reviews and Risk Assessments and am responsible for this aspect of staff training. I have similar responsibilities with my role as Data Protection Manager.

I also have the benefit of working with friends which makes my role here all the more enjoyable.

Spare Time

I have two grown up children and a grandson who keep me busy.

I love holidays and am always looking forward to booking my next trip.

I really enjoy keeping fit and fill my early mornings with running, swimming and spin classes.

I enjoy gardening (not always enough time for it though) and love the theatre and cinema and generally socialising with my friends and family.
