Nick interviewed on Radio Kent about Saville abuse allegations connected to St Martin’s Hospital, Canterbury

It emerged yesterday, through a Ministerial Statement, from Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, that the NHS Saville Legacy Unit and Metropolitan Police have reported further allegations of abuse by Jimmy Saville, at NHS Hospitals, including St Martin’s Hospital in Canterbury.

The Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust has been passed information and directed to carry out an investigation.  It is one of a large number of Hospitals in the same position.  28 investigation reports were published in June, 4 are outstanding and St Martin’s is one of 12 hospitals newly directed to carry out investigations.

St Martin’s Hospital in Canterbury is a Mental Health facility, with 6 wards, that provides acute in patient admission facilities for those with mental health problems admitted to the hospital voluntarily or compulsorily under the Mental Health Act.

Nick Fairweather was asked by Radio Kent to comment due to Fairweathers Solicitors LLP’s Mental Health Department, and regularly representing patients at the hospital, as well as Nick specialising in psychiatric medical negligence cases.
