We are delighted to announce that Lis Corby has today joined our Medical Negligence Department.

Lis is an experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioner.Upon qualifying as a nurse, in 2001, Lis worked as a Staff Nurse, then Senior Staff Nurse, in A&E before taking up the position as Emergency Nurse Practitioner from April 2005, which position she leaves to join us.

Alongside her career achievements, Lis has also, over the last three years, successfully studied for a BSC Honours Degree in Inter Professional Health and Social Care (Emergency Care) at Canterbury Christchurch University, which she graduated from with an Upper Second Class Honours this summer.

Nick Fairweather, Head of Clinical Negligence at Fairweathers, commented:-

“I am delighted to have Lis join us.  She has reached the pinnacle of her profession, alongside excelling academically, and joins us in a full time role, supporting our Medical Negligence Team, which will enable her to utilise her existing knowledge and skills base whilst developing a career with us as a Solicitor in the longer term.  This further growth of the Department underlines our commitment and success in this specialist area”.

Lis herself commented:-

“This is a huge and exciting move for me.  I absolutely loved all my years in nursing and saying goodbye to much valued friends and work colleagues was tough.  I strongly feel, however, that this is the time for a career change for me and I am thorougly looking forward to utilising my clinical and theoretical knowledge base to help and advise patients in the legal setting.  A legal career in litigation, with medicine as a specialist area, is the ideal combination for me.  I am delighted to be joining Fairweathers, a young progressive firm whose reputation in the field locally is second to none”.
