New Family Department opens

We are delighted to confirm that our new Family Department opened today.

It will be headed up by Gemma Duckworth who starts with the firm today.Gemma moves to the firm from Cheltenham. She is a highly experienced family law solicitor and a member of the Law Society’s Specialist Family Law Panel.

She is also a member of Resolution, the Family Solicitors Practitioners Group committed to good practice and a non confrontational approach to family law matters designed to preserve people’s dignity and encourage amicable agreements wherever possible.

Joining Gemma in the new department will be Gemma Purt, Assistant Solicitor, and Cora Goddard, paralegal.

Initially the department will deal with private client matters.

In the very near future, however, we plan to apply to the LSC for a substantial number of new matter starts so as to be able to undertake publicly funded work in Canterbury where there is such a desperate shortage of Legal Aid practitioners.

Gemma Duckworth commented:-

“I am delighted to be joining Fairweather & Co. It is clear to me that it is a forward looking practice which shares the commitment I have always had to providing a high quality local specialist service to clients. I am very excited about heading up the new family law department.”
