HM Coroner has today reached a conclusion in the Inquest into the death of Eileen McAdie that her death was caused by her being given the wrong medication at Payden’s Pharmacy in New Ash Green and that this amounted to neglect.

Nick Fairweather, who represents the family, commented that he was “pleased with the outcome of these long, protracted inquest proceedings .  Civil proceedings will now follow”.

The family released the following statement through Fairweathers Solicitors LLP:

Eileen McAdie was a much loved wife, mother, sister and grandmother.  Having worked tirelessly over many years as a foster carer, she was looking forward to a long and much deserved retirement.  To lose Eileen in any circumstances would have been a tragedy for the family.  To have her taken from them in the way that occurred here, through these errors, is unbearable.  They think about, miss and remember her every day.  It is the family’s hope that all involved in the case who made these mistakes will genuinely learn lessons from this case so that other patients and their families do no suffer the same fate in the future.

The family would like to thank the Police, the Coroner and his Officer, their legal team and their friends and wider family for their support throughout this difficult process
