Steevi Henderson

In brief

I qualified as a Solicitor into the Clinical Negligence Department at Fairweathers in April 2017 after working here as a Paralegal and then Trainee Solicitor.

In the past

I have always wanted to be a Lawyer for as long as I can remember and developed a particular interest in Personal Injury work when my brother was involved in a serious motorcycle accident when I was 16.

During my law degree I undertook a years placement working for a Solicitors firm in Poole as a Paralegal handling medical negligence claims.

After university I worked as a Proactive Claims Handler dealing with road traffic claims before moving to Fairweathers in May 2011 to pursue my interest in clinical negligence work. I studied for my LPC part time whilst working with the full support of the firm achieving a distinction in July 2015.

At work

My caseload comprises lower value claims encompassing all areas of clinical negligence.

I have a particular interest in GP negligence and recently successfully coordinated a group action for women whose confidential medical records had been unlawfully accessed at a practice in Maidstone.

I also deal with a considerable number of claims surrounding women’s health particularly gynaecological cases arising from pregnancy and childbirth.

One of my recent cases was featured on BBC South East News. It involved the mishandling of a baby after a stillbirth for which I successfully recovered damages for the mother for psychiatric injury caused.

In May 2017 I was shortlisted for the Kent Law Society Junior Lawyer of the Year award.

In my spare time

I live locally with my Husband and Stepdaughter.

My interests include having fun with my daughter, reading fiction books and watching TV dramas.  I enjoy accompanying my daughter to dance competitions.

I love to travel, have recently visited Iceland and am looking forward to a trip to Dublin shortly.
