Abigail Lawrence

In Brief

I have been working as a part time Financial Controller for Fairweather Solicitors LLP since June 2015 when I mistakenly answered the phone to my sister and said that I could help out!

In the Past

I originally started my training as an AAT accountant and proceeded to qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) in 1995 whilst working for a medium sized accountancy practice in Kent.  I began life as a trainee and eventually left as an account manager with one of the largest portfolios of small to medium sized audit businesses.

I left in 1998 to start my family and have three young children. I have since returned to work as an independent financial controller and account manager and now work for a number of small businesses within the South East.

At Work

I am responsible for providing general advice on accounting matters, dealing with final costs and assistance with provision of monthly management accounts, whilst helping with the day to day running of the accounts department when my colleague (and sister) is away on holiday.

I am the main contact point with our external Accountants, Kreston Reeves, who I work with closely in covering our audit and producing our accounts annually.

I have a special responsibility for budgeting and cash flow.

Spare Time

With a young family of three children I don’t get much spare time but have recently taken up karate, which I am thoroughly enjoying.
